Unveiling the Secret Weapon of English Teaching: Kahoot!

What makes students yell and laughing int the class? And what makes them being so engaged in learning language? I would definitely answer with game from Kahoot!!

Today, I would like to share a powerful teaching tool: Kahoot! (Here's the link to Kahoot for teacher). Don't miss this helpful assistant, esp. for teachers who really want to create a quiz-based game for reviewing vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and much more, making learning fun and competitive. 🚨Quick heads up before you scroll any further! This website comes with a price tag – yeah, not the freebie kind. If that's a deal-breaker for you, feel free to hit the close button on this post.

Applications in Language Learning

So, next up, I'm gonna show off some ready-to-use English learning goodies from Cambridge English on Kahoot (Here's the link), where the lessons are a goldmine for B1-B2 learners diving into grammar skills).

Kahoot is full of all sorts of activities and games. Let me spotlight the classic one (top-left corner, you can't miss it) to show you how Kahoot spices up English teaching at every turn. Usually, in the offline world of teaching, teachers stick to the colorful quiz part, skipping the explanations. Those explanations? Perfect for online learning, crafted by the teachers themselves.

Doesn't the lively colors and cute fonts just make you wanna keep clicking? Kahoot turns learning (often a snooze fest) into a fun-fest, much like a vdieo game capturing students' attention. Oh, and did I mention the thrilling game music that gets your heart racing? Plus, it even dishes out rankings after each quiz round!! Stirring up that competitive spirit is where Kahoot really shines!

However, what about the ones who didn't win? How do they feel? Thanks to the app's interactive and competitive nature, students are all in, super engaged. And we teachers? We're basking in the glory of their enthusiasm. Yet, do we spare a thought for those 'not-so-victorious'? They've given their all, only to miss seeing their names in the spotlight. The disappointment is palpable... If you're a good observant, you'd notice: the once buzzing classroom turns weirdlly silent!!!! And that's exactly why some teachers are hesitant to jump on the Kahoot bandwagon.
