Check Out These Two Incredible Blended Learning Tools: H5P and Genially
Before formally introducing H5P and Genially, I would like to emphasize that while these two tools are incredibly helpful and powerful, they are also require a considerable amount of time to fully grasp...
In this case, why should our teacher invest large amount of time in creating blended learning materials? (Advantages of blended learning) (Osguthorpe & Graham, 2003)
- Pedagogical richness
- Social interaction
- Cost effectiveness
- Ease of revision
- Access to knowledge
- Personal agency (i.e. learner control and choice)
- ...
Part 1: Introduction to Selected Functions of H5P (link)

When I first started exploring the H5P tool, my initial impression was: yet another website with a plethora of complex tools...just the same old routine of exercises and Drag and Drop activities. However, the next few features really caught my eye, and they strengthened my resolve to introduce this tool to everyone.
This feature allows for a more intuitive display of comparisons. As shown in the image, by sliding the central control bar, we can clearly observe the geographical changes before and after the flood, with respective timestamps in the bottom left and right corners of each image.
2. Branching Scenario (link)I believe this feature could easily be ranked among the top contenders for 'learning through play.' It's an interactive activity that seamlessly integrates video, images, and text simultaneously.
"Branching Scenario is a flexible content type that enables authors to present a variety of rich interactive content and choices to learners. Learners make choices that determine the content they will see.
The authoring tool can be used in full screen and allows authors to structure the content as a tree with multiple branches and endings." (Text resourse: h5p. org)
Unfortunately, I couldn't find the option to embed H5P directly into the blog. BUT! Make sure to click the link above to experience the power of this feature. You'll discover that you can learn while having fun.

The desire to learn through a simple click of the mouse is shared by both teachers and students. Students' attention is captivated by these interactive games and exercises, leading to a significant improvement in focus. However, behind these exquisite games lies a substantial effort from teachers (as evident from the interface of the authoring tool in the image above). It requires extensive search for videos, texts, and images initially. Later, these materials need to be edited and integrated into genuine blended learning materials that students can engage with.
Part 2: Introduction to 'Presentations' Functions of Genially (link)

Similarly, Genially's presentations function has powerful features, but it requires teachers to invest time in exploring its capabilities and intricate handling. As the slogan suggests in above image, slides created with Genially are interactive, packed with music, video, hotspots, pop-up windows, quiz games, etc., enabling students to engage while learning. Preparing or reviewing classroom content is no longer limited to simply "browsing" slides but involves interactive learning within the slides themselves!
Here's a video I stumbled upon that's super helpful for beginners diving into Genially. Thought I'd share it with y'all:
End of this week~
I hope the content above was helpful to you~ ๐

Yes, I feel the same as you, it's not very convenient for teachers or students to have to spend some time exploring the complex features of Genially.
